PC Issues

There can be a variety of causes for a failure to read a DVD. Try the following troubleshooting steps to see if they help:

  • Hold down the left shift key when inserting the game disc to prevent the Autoplay menu from coming up. You can then attempt to read the disc and directly start the game.
  • Try another DVD in the same drive to make sure that the issue is with the game DVD and not your PC’s DVD drive.
  • If you have DVD burning software such as Alcohol 120% installed, you may need to turn off all of your emulation options.

If you’re sure the issue is with the DVD itself and the game is still under warranty, you can request a replacement disc.

This occurs if you’ve installed the game using an account that does not have full Administrator or Power User privileges. You’ll need to uninstall the game and re-install it while your system is running on an account with administrative privileges. During your re-install, be sure to allow the game to install any necessary Windows drivers on your machine.

Problems with sound cards can usually be remedied by installing the most up-to-date sound card drivers on your PC. Check your sound card manufacturer’s website for instructions on how to download and install updated drivers.
