This FAQ deals with frequently asked questions regarding gameplay and technical issues in Velocity 2X. Please note that it does not contain gameplay tactics or strategy.
Velocity 2X is no longer available to purchase or download on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.
If you have the game downloaded and installed — or if the game is still in your Library — you can still play. If the game has been uninstalled and is no longer in your Library, you will not be able to download and install the game again.
1. I’m seeing turrets not disappear when they are destroyed or sometime shooting particles that linger on the screen for a while. Is there some way to stop this?
This is a fairly rare occurrence that occasionally happens but doesn’t affect actual gameplay. You should be able to complete the level normally even with the extra visual matter on the screen.
2. My spaceship got stuck while I was throwing bombs and teleporting around the level. How can I fix this?
If this happens, you will have to quit and restart the level.
3. I’ve paused the game and I’m looking at the Options menu. There doesn’t seem to be a way to exit the menu and get back to the game.
To return to the game press the “Start” or “Back” buttons.
4. My controller got disconnected while I was in the level selection menu and the game just started. Is there something wrong?
This is a bug that can happen if your controller accidentally gets disconnected while in the level selection menu. If you replug your controller into your system you should be able to control the game or quit and restart the level as normal.
5. I was playing the game in the credit section and my character got stuck in the corner. How do I fix this?
If this happens you’ll need to exit and re-enter this section.
6. I have unlocked all of the Daily Challenge Achievements and they all have the same icons. Is this intended?
Yes. Main game and DLC Achievements share the same artwork.
7. I was attempting a Daily Challenge and left before completing it because I wanted to restart the level. Now the game tells me that my Daily Challenge is completed. Why is that happening?
You only get one opportunity per day to attempt the Daily Challenge. If you fail for any reason or leave before completion, that counts as your attempt for the day. You will have to wait until the next day to try the Daily Challenge again.
Steam Specific Questions
1. What are the minimum PC requirements to play Velocity 2X?
Listed below are the minimum and recommended system requirements in order to play the game on your computer.

- OS: Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
- Processor: Intel Core 4400 @ 2.00GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @ 2.0 GHz
- Memory: 1 GB RAM
- Hard Disk Space: 3 GB available space
- Video Card: Radeon X1800 XL or GeForce 8800 GT or better
- DirectX®: 9.0c
- Sound: DirectX 9.0c; Compatible Sound Card
- Recommended: Controller and 60 Hz monitor
2. I’m playing the game with a keyboard and mouse setup but the prompts in the tutorial section of the game are for a game controller. Can I change this?
No. The tutorial prompts in the game will only display controls for a game controller.
3. I’m playing the game with a keyboard and mouse setup and I can’t find any way to customize them in the controller options menu. How do I customize my keyboard and mouse?
You cannot customize the keyboard and mouse options from within the in-game controller options menu. In order to adjust these controls, use the launcher app.
4. I’ve opened the game and am now in the main menu and there doesn’t seem to be any way to return to the title screen. How can I do that?
There is no way to return to the title menu from the main menu. You will have to close and restart the game.
5. I’ve minimized the game but I can still hear the music and sound effects through my system’s speakers. How do I stop this?
If this happens, the only way to stop the music and sound effects is to turn off the music and sound effects through the game’s sound menu or turn the game off.
6. I’m playing the game under Windows 10 while using a GeForce GTX 760 and I’m having some stability issues.
We are currently investigating this with NVidia’s help and should have a resolution soon. Older NVidia cards and AMD cards do not appear to be affected. Thank you for your patience with us and stay tuned for an update soon.
7. I’m having severe performance issues with the first level of Critical Urgency. What’s going on?
This can happen on systems at or near the minimum required specs for the game.
To try and alleviate this:
- Check the minimum system requirements to play Velocity 2X and make sure your system meets or exceeds them.
- Update all of your system and hardware drivers
- Reduce the memory load on your system by turning off all unnecessary programs.
8. I’m getting an error message when I try and start up Velocity 2X on my Windows XP system.
Unfortunately Velocity 2X is not supported under Windows XP.
9. It seems like the “Not Bad, Keep Going…” Achievement displays the wrong text.
This is an error in the text string for the Achievement. The Achievement will pop for completing all of the speed levels and gives you the correct number of points.
