As you make your way through the levels and dimensions within the multiverse, you will encounter several different items that can be picked up. They aren’t always right in front of you, so be on the lookout for items that may be hidden.
- Crates: Crates have a variety of different types and functions in Crash 4. Generally, Crates can be destroyed and often contain Wumpa.
- Wumpa: Scattered throughout each level and inside Crates in Normal levels. In Retro playstyle, 100 Wumpa will grant an extra life.
- Aku Aku: Collect one to gain an extra hit point, collect two to gain two extra hit points, and collect three to gain temporary invincibility to everything except falling death. While invincible, Aku Aku will also kill any enemies and break any Crates within a nearby damage radius.
- Flashback tapes: Appear in levels and must be collected without dying. If you die while approaching the tape, it will disappear from the level until it is restarted from the beginning. Each collected tape unlocks a new playable Flashback level.
- Lives (Retro-Only): Lives can be found inside levels in Retro playstyle and are represented by a floating head of the current character you’re playing.
- Bumpa berries (N.Verted-Only): Scattered throughout each level and inside Crates in N.Verted levels. In Retro playstyle, 100 Bumpa will grant an extra life.
- Gems: Collect Gems by completing objectives within Main Path and Timeline levels. Each level has a total of 12 Gems, and when six are collected, a unique Skin for Crash or Coco unlocks. The Gem objectives are:
- Gem 1: Collect 40% of the Wumpa in Normal
- Gem 2: Collect 60% of the Wumpa in Normal
- Gem 3: Collect 80% of the Wumpa in Normal
- Gem 4: Destroy all Crates in Normal
- Gem 5: Complete Normal without dying more than 3 times
- Gem 6: Find hidden Gem in Normal
- Gem 7: Collect 40% of the Bumpa in N.Verted
- Gem 8: Collect 60% of the Bumpa in N.Verted
- Gem 9: Collect 80% of the Bumpa in N.Verted
- Gem 10: Destroy all Crates in N.Verted
- Gem 11: Complete N.Verted without dying more than 3 times
- Gem 12: Find hidden Gem in N.Verted
