As of December 1, 2018, the GHTV mode within Guitar Hero Live will no longer be available to play. On that date, we will terminate the service for GHTV and servers will be shut down. Console versions of the GH Live mode will continue to operate as usual.
The following article gives details about Guitar Hero Live’s in-game currency system including Coins, Tokens, and Hero Cash along with answers to frequently asked questions about in-game purchases.
The Guitar Hero Live Marketplace is Guitar Hero Live’s in-game store where you can use various forms of currency to purchase fun gameplay additions such as custom Note Highways and Player Cards that will change how you appear to other players.
You can use real money to buy extra Play Tokens to play songs on demand in GHTV. There will also be a Party Pass available for purchase. If you’re having friends over and just want to have free reign to play whatever track you like, the Party Pass will add all the songs to your in-game library for a set period of time.
You earn in-game currency by playing through the game, which lets you acquire Play Tokens to play songs on demand, vanity items and more. As you play, you earn in-game currency which gives you access to cool stuff along the way. Even if you don’t realize it, you’re earning new content as you go.
You can also use real money to acquire more Play Tokens, or to get quicker access to Premium Shows.

Yes! While not all Premium or Exclusive items will be available this way, Guitar Hero Live will have frequently updated Play Challenges which, if successfully passed, will award you Premium or Exclusive items. Be warned, however, that these challenges will test your Guitar Hero Live skills quite a bit!
At this time you cannot purchase permanent access to a song. If you’d like to play a specific song, you’ll need to use a Play Token, which will grant you immediate access to it.
It can take twenty minutes to credit your account. If after this time, your Hero Cash hasn’t been credited to your account, try the following:
This can happen when you drop the connection during a transaction. This may lead to a loss of functionality, preventing you from dismissing the message. You’ll have to restart the game and then return to the Marketplace to make sure your transaction processed.
Merely having the Hero Power section upgraded doesn’t guarantee the availability of six Hero Powers in a single song. However, since Hero Power sections appear every 30 to 40 second, your best chance of completing this achievement/trophy is to pick the longest song you can find, at least longer than 3:30.
There are two possible causes for this issue:
This is a very rare bug that can happen when unlocking a Premium Show. If this happens, return to the main menu then go back to your premium content and it should now be unlocked.
Nothing. You can only access a Premium Show three times using the challenge method. After that, you’ll need to use Hero Cash to access the content.
No. While you can still download and play any songs you purchased on any of the classic Guitar Hero titles, none of that DLC will work with Guitar Hero Live.
