Skylanders SuperChargers Custom Parts Purchasing FAQ

Check out this article for all the information you need on purchasing Custom Parts in Skylanders SuperChargers

With racing being a new, and fun part of the Skylanders experience, your friends at Skylanders Academy have teamed up to help you soup up your racers with the addition of purchasable Custom Parts!

These Custom Parts allow you to tweak the look of your Skylanders racers with hundreds of cool enhancements including temporary Boosts that improve various aspects of your vehicles. Check out the questions below to find out all about purchasing Custom Parts.

Custom Parts

Custom Parts are primarily special cosmetic items you can attach to your Skylanders vehicle to change how they look in the game. There are also special temporary Custom Parts called Boosts that grant new abilities and attacks to SuperChargers vehicles.

Not exactly. There are two kinds of Custom Parts in the game – Durable Parts and Consumable Parts. Durable Parts are cosmetic items you attach to your vehicle to change its appearance. Consumable Parts change the attacks, handling, or abilities of your racer. They’re used for a single race and then they disappear. They will be held in your Skylanders Academy until they’re used.

Durable Parts come in four different categories: Toppers, Shouts, Decos, and Neon Kits. Each has a different effect on your racer.

Toppers: These are items that go on top of your vehicle’s antenna to give it a bit of visual flare. Once equipped, they’ll bob and bounce along with your vehicle.

Shouts: Shouts are word bubbles with accompanying audio effects that replace the functionality of your vehicle’s horn. They’re a fun way to communicate with opponents during a race.

Decos: Decos are rare items that let you make dramatic changes to the color scheme of your favorite vehicles.

Neon Kits: Neon Kits add special glowing lights to your vehicles that will illuminate the race track in all kinds of crazy colors.

Consumable Parts are also called Boosts and they allow you to tweak the performance of racers to help improve almost any aspect of their abilities. Boosts can help you, for example, to do more damage, help you avoid spinning out, let your racer go faster and lots of other effects. Boosts are always acquired in multiples so you’ll always have a few chances to find the kind of Boost that works best for your racing style.

Purchasing Custom Parts

Custom Parts are purchased from a new robot called the BOOM 5000. The BOOM 5000 was constructed by Mags out of an ancient Rift Engine and is located next to Panderghast’s racing airship in the Skylanders Academy.

Custom Parts are packaged into special Vehicle Kits that are dispensed by the BOOM 5000 and are sold in three varieties – Boost Kits, Super Kits, and Mega Kits. Once a Kit is opened and purchased, you’ll see which parts you’ve acquired. The number of items and cost for them is listed below:

 Kit  GearBit Cost  USD$
Boost Kit 1,800 $1.99
Super Kit 4,800 $4.99
Mega Kit 9,700 $9.99

You can only own one of a Custom Part. If you purchase a Vehicle Kit that contains a duplicate Custom Part, the value of the Part in Gearbits will automatically be refunded to you.

Equipping Custom Parts

The Customization Station is a new piece of equipment in the Academy that can be found next to the BOOM 5000. Simply use it to equip your vehicle with a Part or take a look at the Sets you’ve collected.

Boosts are equipped on the Team Selection screen just before you enter a race. You’ll see a new “Boost” icon next to your Skylander icon that can be activated to equip a Boost for a race.

Each Custom Part is thematically grouped into a “Set” that reflects the fact that those cosmetic Custom Parts are designed to work together. You don’t have to utilize your Custom Parts in Sets, however. You can mix and match Custom Parts to your heart’s content!

No. Custom Parts are grouped into Sets to let collectors know what parts they’re missing. There’s no in-game benefit for using a Set.

No! Any Custom Part can be equipped on any vehicle regardless of whether it’s a land, sea, or sky vehicle.
