Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season Six

A deep dive into everything that’s coming to Season Six, including new Multiplayer maps, the epic conclusion to Zombies, and groundbreaking changes to Verdansk

THE HAUNTING

The Limited-Time SCREAM Operator Bundle is your opportunity to play as Ghostface in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War before he returns to cinemas in January 2022, where Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group will bring back the classic film series that defined the ‘90s for meta horror.

Yes, Ghostface is back... It’s always someone you know! A new psychopath is terrorizing the streets of Woodsboro once again with a new set of rules. And in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, he’s a standalone Operator who can carve up any hapless soul — living, dead, or undead — across Multiplayer, Zombies, and Battle Royale.

In addition to the SCREAM Ghostface Operator, this Bundle comes with the iconic “Violent End” Finishing Move, which can be performed by all Operators, including Ghostface; the “Cordless Phone” Weapon Charm; the “Scary Hours” Watch; an animated Emblem and Calling Card; and three Legendary Weapon Blueprints.

The two ranged Weapon Blueprints come with Tracer Fire, and of course, there’s the “Ghost Blade,” where you can truly become the infamous killer with a knife modeled after Ghostface’s signature weapon.

Later in The Haunting: Tracer Pack: Donnie Darko Limited-Time Bundle

Donnie Darko gave the world a true psychological thriller right after the turn of the twenty-first century, impressing at independent film festivals and developing a cult following after its 2001 release.

The Haunting will also bring this film’s mysterious rabbit into Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. Although it won’t be available tomorrow, you won’t have to wait 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds to get it. In fact, the Tracer Pack: Donnie Darko Limited-Time Bundle will drop in on October 24 across both games.

The countdown to the end of the world has begun, and the “Frank the Rabbit” Operator Skin, included within this Bundle for Baker, is here to celebrate. With this new Skin comes a Finishing Move that fans of the film will know too well, almost as if it was a premonition of what’s to come…

We are, of course, talking about the “Sky is Falling” Finishing Move, where any Operator — including Baker as Frank the Rabbit — can cause an unfortunate accident for anyone caught with their back exposed.

This Bundle also includes four Epic-Rarity items — a Weapon Charm, a Calling Card, an Emblem, and a Watch. You’ll also get three Legendary Weapon Blueprints — one Sniper Rifle, one SMG, and one Assault Rifle. All of these Weapon Blueprints come with Purple Electric Tracer Fire and other shocking effects that may be useful in getting into your enemy’s head...

More Scares In-Store

Other Operators are getting into the spirit, in more ways than one. Around Halloween, a few themed Bundles will drop in the Store, and you may already be familiar if you paid attention during Season Six’s original announcement.

Namely, there will be a trio of Ultra-rarity Operator Skins across three Bundles coming out Halloween week, starting with the Tracer Pack: Necro Queen Reactive Mastercraft.

Featuring the “Necro Queen” Operator Skin for Portnova, as well as a Reactive Mastercraft “Void Monster” Assault Rifle Blueprint, this Bundle could help you rule life, death, and the space between.

Next is the Tracer Pack: Disciple of Mayhem Ultra Bundle, which comes with an Operator Mission that unlocks COD Points and an Ultra-rarity Operator Skin Variant once completed.

The star of this Bundle is Weaver’s Ultra-rarity “Disciple of Mayhem” Skin, which is inspired by the terrifying Disciple from Zombies. Although the robes don’t give you the power to steal life force from enemies, they do look great when performing the “Repairs with Klaus” Finishing Move or when using the three included Legendary Weapon Blueprints. Perhaps best of all, this Bundle includes the wise-cracking Klaus from “Mauer der Toten” as a new lobby companion.

Then on Halloween, the Tracer Pack: Lumens Maxis Ultra Bundle will light up the night — and day — with an Ultra-rarity “Lumens” Skin for Maxis and three Legendary Weapon Blueprints with bright electric Tracer Fire.

Before all of that, another menacing Ultra-rarity Skin specific to Naga will arrive in the Store. But we best save that intel for when it launches on Friday, October 22.

The Haunting Event and the LAPA SMG

The Haunting isn’t just about which Operator you choose to survive the night. It’s also about what you need to do to survive… and how to come away with plenty of new rewards for your arsenal.

During The Haunting event, there will be two sets of nine challenges — one for Warzone and one for Black Ops Cold War — with 19 items, such as Weapon Blueprints, to earn. In addition to rewards earned for completing each challenge, The Haunting offers a major bonus reward for finishing all nine challenges in either game: the LAPA SMG.

This ranged prototype will test your opponents from a distance. Its attachments leave plenty of room for investigation on how it can fit into the meta, but on its own, it is a high-damage but slow-firing SMG with solid control and range.

Alongside the Limited Time Scream Operator Bundle, The Haunting will begin with the Terrible End Bundle, which contains the “Abnormality” Weapon Blueprint — the first Blueprint for this new weapon. This gives you an opportunity to try the weapon before it’s unlocked, and provides a different starting point for earning attachments after unlocking the base weapon, but remember: you’ll need to unlock the base version to level up the weapon and earn its camo challenges.

What challenges do you need to complete to unlock the base LAPA? See for yourself in-game tomorrow, and expect them to be based around all the new modes and features coming to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

NEW OPERATORS

Mason (instant unlock with the Battle Pass)

Hailing from the harsh wilderness within the Golden Heart of Alaska known as Fairbanks, Mason is a former Marine whose service record and reputation are mired in controversy. Despite his impulsive and reckless behavior, his effectiveness in the field is indisputable.

Mason is responsible for single-handedly neutralizing Doctor Friedrich Steiner, assisting the CIA in preventing a Nova 6 attack, eliminating Nikita Dragovich, and helping Adler and his team in stopping Operation Greenlight from destabilizing the world during the Cold War.

Fuze (coming to the Store in-season)

Benito “Fuze” Ortega is a soldier of fortune hired by Perseus for his bomb-disposal expertise. His mission, as seen during Season Six’s Intro Cinematic: Disrupt the seismic devices found under Verdansk.

Fuze is a thrill-seeker from Madrid who never turned down a high-stakes job, no matter the risk.  Despite the loss of his legs, he’s persevered, becoming the elite Operator he is today, keeping his eclectic sense of humor and allegiance to the almighty dollar in the process.

NEW BASE WEAPONS

410 Ironhide: Shotgun (Battle Pass Tier 15)

Lever-action shotgun. High damage at close range with an improved fire rate. Reliable 2-shot kill with a short 1-shot range.

Grav: Assault Rifle (Battle Pass Tier 31)

Full-auto assault rifle. Fast firing rifle with improved range. Fastest bullet velocity in class with modest damage and moderate recoil.

Unlock these base weapons by completing an in-game challenge, or obtain a Weapon Blueprint version through a bundle purchase in the Store.

Battle Axe: Melee Weapon (available at Launch)

Two-handed melee weapon. Double bit axe with a straight wooden handle for powerful swings. Fell your foes and use them as kindling.

LAPA: SMG (coming in-season)

Full-auto submachine gun. Lightweight prototype with reliable damage and good firing control. Improved handling and range with a slower fire rate.

Hammer and Sickle: Melee (coming in-season)

Dual wield melee. A powerful union between industrial and agricultural tools. Demonstrate the strength of labor with deadly melee attacks at close-range.

NEW MULTIPLAYER MAPS

Deprogram: 6v6 (available at Launch)

During Adler’s interrogation and deprogramming, memories from his convoluted past come to life as a warped combat arena in Deprogram. Here, you’ll pass through Red Doors as the fight rages on throughout Adler’s broken mind.

Each part of this map is a fragment of Adler’s memories, stitched together to form one of the most unique map experiences ever seen in Call of Duty. The Red Doors found throughout Deprogram can be used to quickly traverse the map, which may lead to power positions over objectives or be used for four-dimensional plays that can help you outsmart opponents.

Amerika: 6v6 (available at Launch)

Take the war to a Soviet recreation of an American Main Street in Season Six’s next 6v6 map, Amerika.

A secret military facility in the heart of the U.S.S.R., this medium-sized map will have you fighting through a replica of a town that includes a pizzeria, theater, and a Burger Town mock-up. Maneuver through these buildings for close-quarter battles, and watch out for long-range weaponry that is sure to lock down the block.

Gluboko: 2v2 and 3v3 (available at Launch)

Taking place in the underground vault of the KGB headquarters, Gluboko serves as the newest map where Operators can battle in Gunfight and Face Off variants, including Face Off 6v6.

The Lubyanka Building’s underbelly can be home to extremely fast-paced engagements, as fights will spill out around and on top of the main briefing table.

ZOMBIES UPDATES

“Forsaken” — The Epic Conclusion to Black Ops Cold War Zombies (Launch)

In “Mauer der Toten,” Requiem’s elite strike team stopped Doctor Aleksandra Valentina from unleashing an undead army into our dimension, narrowly escaping Omega Group’s clutches thanks to Samantha Maxis and her newfound powers.

In “Forsaken,” the final round-based map in Black Ops Cold War Zombies, the team is ready to finish the fight at the heart of Omega Group: a secret test site in the U.S.S.R. that threatens to invite an even greater supernatural threat into the world. Behind the scenes, Requiem’s secretive Director makes the call to approve Maxis for “Operation First Domino” as Requiem and Omega prepare for the final showdown.

Along with additional Zombies features — including a new Perk, Wonder Weapon, two additional Support Weapons, and more — “Forsaken” comes with a new set of Challenges and new in-game Intel to uncover.

New Perk & Perk Machines in “Forsaken”

After downing a bottle of PhD Slider, the tenth and final Zombies Perk in Black Ops Cold War, an Operator can take advantage of the following effect:

Sliding into enemies triggers an explosion. The size and damage increases the farther you slide before impact.

This Perk turns you into a living weapon that grows even more deadly as you invest Aetherium Crystals into its Skills Tiers, which feature full immunity to self-inflicted explosive damage, the ability to trigger an explosive payload after falling from a vertical distance, and more.

Look for PhD Slider in its dedicated Perk Machine in “Forsaken” and in the Der Wunderfizz machine in all round-based maps and Outbreak. The Death Perception Perk, introduced in Season Five, will also have its own standalone machine on the new map for the first time.

New Wonder Weapon — Discover the Chrysalax

The ultimate tool for splitting Zombies like wood, the Chrysalax can be discovered in “Forsaken” as part of its own quest, through completing Trials, or by trying your luck at the Mystery Box.

Forged in the Dark Aether, there is more to this Wonder Weapon than what appears on its surface, boasting the ability to convert between a powerful battle axe and a rapid-fire energy weapon.

New Zombies Support Weapons — ARC-XD and Hand Cannon

Two new powerful Support options are here to help fend off the undead at the launch of Season Six:

  • ARC-XD — The Aether Remote-Controlled Explosive Device (ARC-XD) is an advanced Support Weapon fitted with an Aetherium Crystal that acts as a decoy, emitting a sound to draw enemy attention. The ARC-XD will continually pulse a small Aether blast that can kill normal enemies and launch them on contact. It is capable of fitting through tight crawl spaces, yet powerful enough to send a group of undead soldiers back to their graves.
  • Hand Cannon — Originally found as a hidden weapon in the Campaign and introduced to Multiplayer in Season Four, the Hand Cannon joins Zombies as one of Season Six’s Support Weapons. Hindered only by a strong vertical kick and slow rate of fire, the Hand Cannon can blast away zombies with ease, especially Special and Elite enemies with precision shots.

New Onslaught Content (PlayStation)

Season Six will see the Multiplayer map Deprogram added to the Onslaught rotation. Call up your duo and prepare to journey into Adler’s mind and the undead nightmare that the Onslaught Orb provides.

Perhaps you can step up to the challenge of Onslaught Elite as well.

This limited-time mode is standard Onslaught with one major twist: every surge will spawn an Elite enemy, tripling the danger from the usual survival experience. High value targets, such as Disciples and Tempests, are also included in these surges, making it a true test for the most Elite Operators.

Survive 20 cumulative waves in this new mode, and you get a Legendary Assault Rifle Blueprint known as the “Rock Salt,” which is for a highly mobile weapon introduced in Season One of Black Ops Cold War.

WARZONE UPDATES

New Points of Interest

Fissures Level the Stadium and Downtown

Adler’s actions while AWOL led to Verdansk being leveled, significantly altering areas of the central city and revealing previously undiscovered bunkers packed with stockpiles of WWII-era German bombs and armaments.

Old Verdansk Stadium is wrecked due to the man-made earthquake, which sent the cranes towering above down onto the construction zone and soccer pitch. Fortunately, a new stadium was already planned for the site, but for now in ’84, expect greater maneuverability across all levels of this location, including within the cracks of the earth.

Southwest of the Stadium, Downtown is a chaotic mess as buildings topple into the fissure. Reports from the ground indicate a marquee Hotel and several buildings in the vicinity have been destroyed in the blasts. For Tier One Operators, expect less verticality in this notorious part of town, as well as some additional areas to explore…

World War II Bunkers

Hidden beneath Verdansk’s surface — long before the “original Verdansk bunkers” you may have explored previously — was an underground system of passageways and armaments rooms. These old German war bunkers have been barricaded off since the war’s end.

After Adler discovered the existence of these relics from a bygone era, he drilled down through the surface to plant seismic charges to set off a greater explosion. Their mysterious nature hints at what will come following Vanguard’s launch…

New Gulag

A return to a familiar 1v1 combat arena

Ready to relive your first Gulag duels? Season Six’s Gulag is inspired by the original trio of 1v1 maps within the Verdansk of 2019, and based on the Modern Warfare® Gunfight map variant. This takes place in an undisclosed and sectioned-off level of the deep Zordaya Prison Complex.

The arena may not be just as you remember it, but the rules haven’t changed: win this 1v1 to get back into the fray and continue to throw those rocks with reckless abandon.

Regiment Transition

Update your active Regiment by October 5 prior to a freeze to prepare for the shift to the new Clan system.

As part of the Season Six update for Warzone on October 6, Regiments will be frozen, in preparation to transition it towards a new and more rewarding Clan system based around playing with your friends and fellow community members.

After October 6, you will only be able to view your Regiment Roster and inspect players. You will not be able to create, manage, switch, or invite people to your Regiment, use Regiment Tags, or receive Happy Hour rewards after this date. And if you are in multiple Regiments, you have until October 5 to ensure that you are “Active” in the one you wish to stay in through Vanguard’s launch on November 5.

This is all to limit any variables as Call of Duty sets up a new Clan-based system, to be rolled out in Warzone by the end of the year.
