This article covers hardware issues for Skylanders SuperChargers for iOS and AppleTV including the Portal of Power, controllers, and toys.

General Issues

1. My device is losing battery power very fast when I’m playing the game. Why is this?

Unfortunately games and other processor-intensive programs can drain device batteries very fast. To avoid, try and stay plugged into your charger while playing. Use the correct charger for your device.

2. My tablet is warm to the touch and I’m starting to notice issues with the game such as visual corruption, low performance, BLE or Wifi loss, audio stuttering, or the audio is not in-sync with text box. What’s going on?

This can occur when your device heats up after prolonged use. Let your device cool down for a short time before resuming play.

Portal of Power Issues

1. My Portal of Power batteries are about 50% full or less but my Portal won’t work steadily. How long will my Portal batteries last when playing the game?

Battery life should be between five and seven hours when playing with fully charged batteries in the Portal of Power.

2. I’m getting a message that says the Portal is unable to communicate when I try to pair the controller and portal to the device by using the device’s Bluetooth pairing functionality. What’s going on?

The Portal and controller do not connect in that way. In order to connect the Portal and controller just start the game and turn your Portal on and they will automatically connect.

Controller Issues

1. There is a delay between the character’s action on screen and the input on the controller. What’s happening?

This can happen in high interference environments. Try and reduce the amount of devices connected wirelessly in the area.

2. I have the game installed on two or more different devices at home and I’m having difficulties pairing the correct portal or controller with the correct device.

The best way to make sure your portal and controller do not sync up with another device in your environment is to turn off your portal and your controller every time you’re not actually playing the game.

To turn off your portal and controller, hold the power/sync button for about three seconds, the light will turn off when the device shut downs.

3. I’m using a third-party controller and synced it with my device after the application was launched and now it controls both Skylanders in Local Co-Op. How do I avoid this?

Closing the application and restarting it will solve this issue. Make sure to sync the third-party controller prior to launching the application on future uses.

4. I disconnected a second controller from a local Co-Op game and received a message telling me to reconnect the controller. How do I continue playing?

To fix this this issue:

  1. Reconnect the controller
  2. Remove the Skylander from the Portal of Power
  3. Press the Back button to unjoin the game in progress
  4. Turn off the controller.

Apple TV Specific

1. I’m unable to use charged or continuous attacks by holding down a button on the Siri Remote for my Apple TV.

This is an unavoidable limitation due to the number of buttons available for use on the Siri Remote. To use charged or continuous attacks, use the BLE Controller or a third-party controller.

2. I’m using the BLE Controller or a third-party controller with my Apple TV and my Siri Remote always shows “join in the game.” Why is it doing this?

This is by design. It allows a second player to join a local co-op game with the Siri Remote.

Toy Issues

1. I’m using a physical Skylander toy during gameplay, but it didn’t unlock the associated Digital Skylander/Vehicle. Is something wrong?

No. Only Instant Skylanders and Instant Vehicles can be unlocked using the physical toys. Digital Skylanders and Digital vehicles are only unlocked when you purchase a Digital version of the toy. Note that this will not prevent you from playing any portion of the game.

2. I put my Skylanders toy on the portal and the game got stuck in the animated sequence where the character enters the game. How do I get out of this?

There are three possible ways to resolve this situation. Try them in the following order:

  1. Remove and replace the Skylander on the portal.
  2. Turn the app off and on.
  3. Turn your device and portal off and on again.

3. I have received a Legendary Treasure through the Wishstone Well, Treasure Chest, Piñata or a Daily Quest but it isn’t added to the Collection.

The Legendary Treasures Collection only tracks those treasures gained by placing a physical toy on the portal.
