Progression in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

Essential intel on Unlocks, Prestige, Challenges, and Progression in Black Ops 7

Cross-progression continues in Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7, the unified playing experience that ties your progression to your Activision account. Cross-progression allows you to continue your progression when playing on any platform linked to the same Activision account.

Black Ops 7 gameplay across Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Call of Duty®: Warzone™ will earn you XP to progress through 55 Levels of Weapons, Equipment, Scorestreaks, Operators, and more. Starting in Season 01, gameplay will also count toward your overall player progression as well as Battle Pass progression.

Classic Prestige also returns, giving players who reach and complete Max Level 55 the option to enter Prestige and restart their Leveling journey in exchange for a bit of Prestige and exclusive rewards.

Level Unlocks

Your Black Ops 7 journey begins with a straightforward mission: climb through military designations from Private I (Level 1) to Commander (Level 55) by earning XP across Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone.

At every step from 1 through 55, you’ll unlock a variety of new content to use in applicable Loadouts. You can track your Progression and Level Unlocks in game by selecting Progression > Level Unlocks on the Career tab. Note that Level Unlocks include icons representing the game modes where they can be used.

  • Relocked Content: Loadout items will be relocked once you enter Prestige. However, Operators and Emotes remain permanently unlocked. See the Prestige section below for more details.
  • Black Ops 7 Items in Warzone: Any compatible items from Black Ops 7 that you unlock during your Player Leveling will become available in Warzone.
  • GobbleGums: All GobbleGums are unlocked from the start of the game. The ones listed in the Level Unlocks (1-55) are bonus GobbleGums that give you an extra one-time-use item.
Prestige

Complete Level 55 and reach Max Level, and you’ll face the option to take your grind to the next level: Welcome to Black Ops 7 Prestige.

Enter the Prestige Hub via the Progression button on the Career tab to view the full Prestige journey, preview rewards, and check in on your Prestige stats and Challenges.

Choosing to Prestige

Choosing to Prestige in past Call of Duty titles wasn’t without its risks, and that’s no different in Black Ops 7. Make the choice to enter Prestige and you’ll get promoted to Prestige 1, but you will also be:

  • Reset to Player Level 1.
  • All Level Unlocks will be relocked and must be unlocked again, except for Base Operators, Emotes, Zombies GobbleGums, and anything you Permanently Unlock.
  • Your Loadouts will be reset.
  • Lifetime stats will remain viewable in the Combat Record, but your stats elsewhere in the game will only show stats for your current Prestige.

However, the following items will not be relocked or reset:

  • Weapon Progression, Camos, and Reticles
  • Weapon Builds (Your favorite Weapon may be relocked but the Builds you’ve created for it will be waiting for you when you reach the level needed to unlock it again.)
  • Challenge Progress and Unlocks
  • Store and Battle Pass Content
  • Operator and Emote Unlocks
  • Zombies GobbleGums

Additionally, any item you have a Blueprint or Skin for will remain Permanently Unlocked through Prestige. This means that if you have a Blueprint for the MXR-17 Assault Rifle, it won’t be relocked when you Prestige. The same goes for any Equipment, Field Upgrades, or Scorestreaks you possess Skins for.

When you choose to enter Prestige 1, you’ll immediately receive the following:

  • Prestige 1 Icon: Your first Prestige icon, which slots into the center of your Level insignia for all players to see!
  • Echo Veil Mason Operator Skin.
  • Access to the Prestige 1 Multiplayer and Zombies Calling Card Challenge Sets
  • One Permanent Unlock

Additionally, as you start leveling through Prestige 1, you’ll unlock a unique Prestige reward every 10 Levels (at Level 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50).

Permanent Unlocks

Each time you Prestige, you'll acquire a Permanent Unlock, an advantage with immense power that can only be used once.

  • You can use it to unlock a single Level Unlock item of your choice.
  • A total of ten Permanent Unlocks can be earned, one per Prestige.
  • Once you complete Prestige 10, Permanent Unlocks provide no further function as your Level Unlocks Progression becomes fully available once you’ve entered Prestige Master.

Permanent Unlock Example: If you don’t want to wait until you’ve progressed back to Level 33 to unlock the Perk Greed Wildcard, you can utilize the Permanent Unlock at any time to gain immediate and permanent access to the Wildcard.

You’re encouraged to make strategic choices about which items to permanently unlock, so you have more control over your gameplay experience by ensuring access to your preferred Loadout items.

Stats Reset: Your stats – such as your current Elimination/Death Ratio – start fresh every time you Prestige. However, you can always view your Lifetime Career stats in the Career > Stats > Combat Record menu.

Prestige Leveling

If you took the plunge and entered Prestige, your level resets to Level 1, Prestige 1. The date you entered Prestige is recorded, and you receive an instant reward. Now, as you level up and re-unlock the Level rewards, you also unlock the Prestige rewards.

Prestige Master

There are 10 Prestiges in Black Ops 7. If you’re dedicated enough to complete all of them, you’ll automatically graduate into Prestige Master and enter the final phase of Black Ops 7 Career Progression. In Prestige Master, your Level rises above 55 for the first time as you are now able to climb up all the way to Level 1,000 and gain additional rewards in the process.

Calling Card Challenges

Black Ops 7 offers more than 680 Calling Cards you can earn by completing various Challenges in Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. Access Calling Card Challenges via the Challenges button in the Career tab.

Calling Cards and their corresponding Challenges are grouped into categories, and each category has multiple sets of Calling Cards to earn and complete. Complete a Challenge set by earning every individual Calling Card in the set to obtain the Animated Mastery Calling Card for that set.

Visit the Tracked & Near Complete tab to see the Calling Cards you’re closest to earning and select up to nine Calling Cards to track.

Weapon Camos

1. Military Camos

Your Weapon Camo progression begins by unlocking nine Military Camos. These are unlocked sequentially with a specific Challenge for each Mode. They must be unlocked individually per weapon. Once unlocked, they can be used (for that weapon only) in any game mode. Here’s the Challenge criteria:

  • Co-Op Campaign: Critical Kills*
  • Multiplayer: Headshots*
  • Zombies: Critical Kills*
  • Warzone: Eliminations.

* In some cases, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Launchers, and Melee Weapons have different criteria:

Shotguns

  • Multiplayer: Point-Blank Kills
  • Zombies: Point-Blank Kills
  • Co-Op Campaign: Point-Blank Kills

Sniper Rifles

  • Multiplayer: One-Shot Kills

Launchers

  • Multiplayer: Kills or Scorestreak Destructions
  • Zombies: Eliminations
  • Co-Op Campaign: Kills, or Guild Equipment or VTOL Destructions

Melee Weapons

  • Multiplayer: Kills
  • Zombies: Eliminations
  • Co-Op Campaign: Kills

2. Special Camos

Once all nine of a weapon’s Military Camos have been unlocked, you can start unlocking Special Camos. Each weapon has three Special Camo Challenges that unlock the Special Camo for that weapon. Once unlocked, they can be used (for that weapon only) in any game mode.  Special Camos can be unlocked in any order (rather than sequentially like Military Camos). Each of the three has a different unlock criteria, with different Challenges for different Weapons and Weapon Classes based on the playstyle of the Weapon.

3. Mastery Camos

When you’ve unlocked a particular weapon’s nine Military Camos and three Special Camos (12 total Camos per weapon), you enter the final phase of Mastery Camos. Each game mode has a different set of four Mastery Camos, including Co-op Campaign for the first time.

Mastery Camos must be unlocked individually on a per-weapon basis and once unlocked, can only be used on that Weapon.

Weapon Prestige

Weapon Prestige returns in Black Ops 7 for the first time since Call of Duty®: Black Ops 4, delivering deep progression and rewards to the weapon leveling process. The option to enter Weapon Prestige appears after reaching a weapon’s max level. Weapon Prestige is available across multiple modes: Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone.

Every weapon in Black Ops 7 features an optional Weapon Prestige journey to earn, with multiple unique Weapon Camos along the way. Here’s how the Weapon Prestige Progression System works:

1. Weapon Leveling

The first part of the progression involves you leveling up your weapon as normal:

  • Start Leveling: As you would with any weapon, use it in any game mode, and the weapon begins to Level Up. You can keep a note of your weapon’s level, and its Max Level, in the Weapon and Gunsmith Menus. In Black Ops 7, you’ll progress your Weapon wherever it’s used – including Weapon Progression in Co-Op Campaign.
  • Unlock Attachments: As you continue to Level Up your Weapon, you unlock Attachments available for it, as you normally do.
  • Reach Maximum Weapon Level: Once your Weapon reaches Max Level, you are presented with the Option to enter Weapon Prestige.
  • Double Weapon XP Tokens: These are extremely useful when shortening the time it takes to level up your weapon throughout the Weapon Prestige experience.

2. Weapon Prestige 1

Once you reach maximum level with your weapon, you can choose to enter Weapon Prestige. Choose to Prestige your Weapon, and the following occurs:

  • Level and Attachment Reset: Your Weapon Level returns to 1, all Weapon Builds and Blueprints are reset, and all earned Attachments are relocked and must be earned again through leveling up the weapon.
  • This does not include Optic Attachments, which remain permanently unlocked once obtained.
  • Weapon Customization (Blueprints, Camos, Reticles, Charms, Decals, and Stickers) are maintained and not reset when Prestiging your Weapon.

Entering Weapon Prestige 1 unlocks the following:

  • A unique and impactful Prestige Attachment that’s different for every weapon.
  • A Permanent Unlock for your weapon, allowing you to choose one of your weapon’s attachments to permanently unlock, circumventing the Prestige Attachment relock for that selected Attachment.
  • A Weapon Prestige 1 Camo: This is automatically unlocked and is Universal, and can be equipped to any weapon.
  • A Prestige Build: A new Build of the Weapon is created automatically, with the Prestige Attachment and the Camo applied. Choose an Optic to place on it, slot in the Attachment you permanently unlocked, and begin Weapon Prestige 1.
  • Your weapon receives a Prestige icon next to it, which is visible to you and all players during a kill cam.

Weapon Prestige 2

You can now choose to continue your Weapon Prestige a second time. The following occurs:

  • Level and Attachment Reset: Your Weapon Level returns to 1 once again, and all Weapon Builds and Blueprints are reset, and earned Attachments that aren’t permanently unlocked are relocked and must be earned again through leveling up the weapon.
  • This does not include Optic Attachments (or Weapon Camos), which remain permanently unlocked once obtained.
  • You are awarded the Weapon Prestige 2 Camo, available to be equipped to any weapon.
  • You are awarded a second Weapon Prestige Permanent Unlock.
  • You are awarded a unique and weapon-specific Charm.
  • Your weapon receives a Prestige 2 icon next to it.

3. Weapon Prestige Mastery

You can now start your final Weapon Prestige journey: Weapon Prestige Master! The following occurs:

  • Your weapon receives a Weapon Prestige Master icon next to it.
  • Your weapon remains at its previous Level, but now has a Max Level cap of Level 250.
  • All Attachments unlocked via Weapon Progression for your weapon are now permanently unlocked.
  • You unlock three Prestige Master Camos at levels 100, 150, and 200, as well as some impressive XP rewards.

Prestige Master Camos

The three Prestige Master Camos are not Universal and instead work in the same way as Military Camos: These are unlocked sequentially and individually, per weapon. Once unlocked, they can be used (for that weapon only) in any game mode.

4. Weapon Prestige Max

The last step is straightforward, and concludes the Weapon Prestige journey for your weapon; simply reach Weapon Prestige Master Level 250 and:

  • Your weapon receives a Weapon Prestige Max icon next to it.
  • You unlock a unique final Camo, which may be animated, or a returning fan-favorite from a past Black Ops game. This Camo is Universal and can be applied to any other weapon in any mode.

Black Ops 7 Weapon Prestige offers a deep progression with each Weapon, virtually no more wasted Weapon XP, and double-quick progression if you utilize any 2XP Weapon Tokens throughout the grind.
