Boss Rematches, Gauntlet, and More Added to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Learn about all the new features included in the free October 2020 update to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

In the first major update since its launch, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice receives a wealth of new features and content to continue your epic adventure as the "One-armed Wolf."

The free update includes the option to set up rematches against your favorite bosses, introduces challenging Gauntlet, allows you to record and share gameplay, and more.

Below is a breakdown of all the new features available in the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice update coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 29, 2020.

Reflection of Strength

Sculptor's Idols have been Wolf's resource for replenishing Vitality, restoring Resurrective Power charges, and fast-traveling.

Now, Wolf can visit a Sculptor's Idol to enter into Reflection of Strength, allowing him to select rematches against any boss he's previously defeated.

Upon entering a Reflection of Strength, your Attack Power will be adjusted to a set number and will return to its normal value once you return to reality.

Any Quick Items or Spirit Emblems you consume while participating in a Reflection of Strength are returned to you after you return to reality, allowing you to significantly alter how you approach your battles without losing your rare consumables.

The effects of Kuro’s Charms and Demon Bells have the same impact while in a Reflection of Strength as they do throughout the rest of the game.

Gauntlet of Strength

Completing Reflection of Strength will also prepare Wolf for Gauntlet of Strength, challenging quests and missions that can also be accessed through a Sculptor's Idol. Each Gauntlet of Strength path must be completed in one life. If Wolf dies at any point during a path, he must restart it from the beginning.

Gauntlet of Strength unlocks by completing the game at least once and beating the bosses found in each path in story mode. Therefore, you may not have access to every Gauntlet of Strength unless you’ve completed multiple endings. For example, the Shura path will only be available upon defeating the Demon of Hatred, Owl (Father) and completing the “Shura” ending of the game.

Upon entering a Gauntlet of Strength, your Attack Power will be adjusted to a set number and will return to its normal value once you return to reality.

Once you complete a Gauntlet of Strength, any Quick Items or Spirit Emblems you consume while participating in the Gauntlet are returned to you after you return to reality. However, these items aren’t restored after each battle within the Gauntlet.

The effects of Kuro’s Charms and Demon Bells have the same impact while in a Reflection of Strength as they do throughout the rest of the game.

Remnants

With Remnants, you can record your actions in-game, up to 30 seconds worth of gameplay. Remnants are available for use if you’ve completed the game's tutorial, allowing you to record an unseen path to get the upper hand on a group of guards or capture that epic deflect-and-slash combination that took down a challenging foe.

When you wish to share your gameplay, you can leave the Remnant at almost any time during gameplay, giving you an opportunity to show off your skills to friends and other Sekiro community members. Bring up the Remnant menu by pressing the Touch Pad on PlayStation 4, the View button on Xbox One, or the G key on PC. To leave a written message with a Remnant, while in the remnant creation menu press Triangle on PlayStation 4, Y on Xbox One, or the G key followed by the F key on PC.

You can also watch and rate Remnants left on the ground by other players. Upon interacting with another player’s Remnant, you will see a “shadow” of the player who left it. If another player praises a Remnant you’ve left, some of Wolf’s Vitality will be automatically restored.

New Outfits

Three new outfits will be included with the update, though they aren't just given to you. The first outfit—Another’s Memory: Ashina—is unlocked by beating the game for the first time. If you beat the game prior to the update, Ashina will be unlocked automatically.

Two more outfits will unlock by completing Gauntlet paths. Complete the “Gauntlet of Strength: Shura” to unlock the Another’s Memory: Shura outfit, and complete the “Gauntlet of Strength: Severance” to unlock the Another’s Memory: Tengu outfit.

Accessible through a Sculptor's Idol, outfits will only change Wolf's look and do not offer any additional skills or gameplay advantages.
