As of December 1, 2018, the GHTV mode within Guitar Hero Live will no longer be available to play. On that date, we will terminate the service for GHTV and servers will be shut down. Console versions of the GH Live mode will continue to operate as usual (except for community content features and online capabilities).
A Rival Challenge is a competition between you and another player to see who can get the highest score on one song in GHTV. Yes. Whether you win or lose, participating in a Rival Challenge will award more Status Points than completing the same song would in an ordinary playthrough.
Rival Challenges will only be activated when playing alone. Playing with friends automatically turns off Rival Challenges.
Rival Challenges appear on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 versions of Guitar Hero Live. The iOS and Apple TV versions of Guitar Hero Live do not have Rival Challenges.
