As a result of Microsoft ending support for Windows 7 in early 2020, Windows 7 is no longer supported to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
What does this mean?
PC players running Windows 7 no longer receive software and security updates to the operating system from Microsoft, which can leave a PC at greater risk for viruses and malware. The absence of updates to Windows 7 also leaves the games and their players vulnerable to security risks, making this change necessary.
Therefore, players will need to upgrade to Windows 10 or to a PC running Windows 10 in order to continue enjoying these games on PC.
Please note: Before upgrading a PC from Windows 7 or Windows 8 to Windows 10, make sure that your PC can support the Computer Specifications and System Requirements for Windows 10.
What happens to my games and progress?
Be sure you have the appropriate Battle.net Desktop App or Steam App installed on your new or upgraded PC. From there, open the launcher to download and install the games you own.
Since game progress in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is stored on your Activision account, your progression and purchased or unlocked content will carry over as long as you’re playing on the same Activision account.
Please note: Progress made in Campaign is stored locally on your PC and not stored on your Activision account.
