Playing Call of Duty Games Through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta)

Essential information for playing select Call of Duty games the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) service

Kicking off with the global release of Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 on October 25, Game Pass Ultimate members will gain access to play Black Ops 6 as well as Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III, Call of Duty®: Warzone™ and Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II* through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on a wide range of supported devices.

* Ownership of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on Xbox platform required to access the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta).

1. Which Call of Duty games are available?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches globally across all platforms on October 25, including through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta). On the same day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone will also be added to the library of games available to play through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta).

2. What do I need to play Call of Duty games through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta)?

An Activision account with a linked Xbox account is required to play Call of Duty games though Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta).

If you don’t have an Activision account, you can create a free one

Your linked Xbox account must also have an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

3. What devices can I use to play Call of Duty through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta)?

Call of Duty players with Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions will be able to play in more places than ever before, including on their consoles, PCs, mobile devices, select Samsung TV, Amazon Fire TV, and more.

Please note: Experiences may differ depending on the device used. Call of Duty games played through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) require a supported controller or mouse and keyboard. Touch screen controls are not supported.

4. How do I set up my device to play Call of Duty through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta)?

Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and Call of Duty: Warzone will vary depending on the device you use. Check out How to use cloud gaming for steps to play Call of Duty on your preferred device.

5. How will Call of Duty progression work while playing through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta)?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and Call of Duty: Warzone feature cross progression in online Multiplayer games, storing your game data on your Activision account. Therefore, you can access game data regardless of how or where you play through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), provided you use the same Activision account linked to your Xbox account.

Please note: Cross progression is carried across all platform accounts linked to the same Activision account.

6. Will I be able to use Call of Duty Points (CP) or digital content I acquired outside of Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta)?

Some content can be used across all platform accounts linked to your Activision account, and some is tied to your platform.

  • CP you purchase or earn through the Battle Pass can only be spent on the platform account you are playing on when you buy or earn CP.
  • Content you purchase with CP can be used on any platform account linked to your Activision account.
  • Most content you purchase with real-world money can only be used on the platform account where it was purchased.

Please note: CP and real-world money purchases from your linked Xbox account may be used when playing a purchased Xbox version of the game as well as through Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), or a Microsoft Store version of the game. CP and real-money purchases are not shared across different console or PC accounts.

7. What are some best practices to ensure my experience playing Call of Duty is safe?

We encourage all players to take measures to protect their Activision accounts. This includes playing on trusted Wi-Fi networks whenever possible. Public Wi-Fi networks can be unstable and may introduce security risks that can leave your device vulnerable.
