What to do if you receive a 4096 error code on a PlayStation console

If you receive error code 4096 on a PlayStation console, it means that your console has encountered a general connection failure. To fix this, please try rebooting your PlayStation console and your network router.

If rebooting does not resolve the issue, you may need to set port forwarding on your PlayStation console. Find out more about Port Forwarding and NAT Types.

If you are still having problems, you can also try these steps:

  1. Completely exit the game.
  2. Turn off your PlayStation console.
  3. Restart your PlayStation console in Safe Mode. To do this, press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps.
  4. Select Rebuild Database from the menu.
  5. Restart the game.
