Playstyles in Crash Bandicoot 4™: It's About Time

Breaking down the different playstyles in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time launches with the option to play with two unique playstyles, each one designed to offer an exciting experience as you make your way through the various dimensions in the multiverse.

You can select one of these playstyles before you enter the game. Playstyles don’t affect gameplay difficulty, nor do they change the game’s reward progress.

Playstyles can be changed at any time through the Gameplay Options menu.

Modern

Modern is the recommended playstyle. In this playstyle, when your character dies, you will return to the last checkpoint where you can continue the game.

Retro

In the Retro playstyle, you will have a limited amount of lives, but you’ll also be able to collect extra lives along the way. If you run out of lives, you’ll need to restart the level from the beginning. Lives are represented by a floating head of the current character you’re playing.
