Call of Duty: WWII PC Troubleshooting Guide

Tips for playing Call of Duty: WWII on PC

The following is a guide to help you troubleshoot issues for Call of Duty: WWII on PC. If you run into any issues during installation or cannot run the game, refer to the troubleshooting tips below.

  • Ensure that you are running both Call of Duty: WWII and Steam as an Admin.
  • Ensure you have the latest drivers and Windows update.
  • Reset the graphics settings back to in-game optimal settings.
  • There is always the potential that applications running on a machine negatively affect the performance of Steam games or the Steam client. If you are encountering poor performance, it might be necessary to investigate other applications on your machine and possibly disable them for testing purposes.
  • Verify the integrity of the Game Cache:
    1. Restart your computer and launch Steam.
    2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
    3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button.
    4. Allow Steam will verify the game's files. This process may take several minutes.

Important: One or more files may fail to verify. This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

If you are running Antivirus software, we recommend adding the entire Call of Duty: WWII folder to your antivirus Exception List. The folder is commonly found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty WWII.

  • If you receive an error message stating Steam Must be Running to Play this Game, please restart Steam, you may have a pending Steam update.
  • Troubleshoot any issues regarding installed games appearing as uninstalled.
  • For Windows N and KN users, ensure that you have the correct Media Feature Pack installed.
  • Perform a clean boot per instruction and only start up bare minimum programs installed games appearing as uninstalled.
  • If the game doesn't start and you have disabled ASLR, re-enable it.

If accessing Headquarters is preventing you from playing the game, you can choose to launch the game without Headquarters. You can still access most of the Headquarters' features through the Multiplayer sub-menu.
