Parental Consent for Activision Games

Players using Activision accounts to play games are required to provide a Date of Birth on their account profiles. If Date of Birth is missing from an Activision account, players will be asked to provide this information the next time they attempt to log in to the account through websites or use it to play applicable Activision games.

Additionally, some accounts will require consent from a parent or guardian. These accounts may not be used to play applicable Activision games until parental consent is granted.

1. Why are account users required to provide Date of Birth?

If your account does not have Date of Birth information, you may not be able to play applicable Activision games or log in to the account through websites.

After providing your Date of Birth, you may also be required to get parental consent in order to log in to your account and use it to play applicable Activision games.

If your Date of Birth was entered incorrectly, please visit Managing Your Activision Account.

2. How is parental consent requested for an account?

If parental consent is required after a Date of Birth is entered, account users will need to enter their name and the email address of a parent or guardian to submit a request.

Instructions for granting parental consent will be sent to the address provided.

3. How much time does a parent or guardian have to grant consent?

Existing accounts

Consent must be granted within 120 days of when we receive age information and the consent requirement has been triggered. The account will be suspended until consent is granted by the parent or guardian.

If parental consent is not granted within 120 days, the request will expire. The information collected to obtain parental consent will be deleted, and the account deletion process will begin, and only minimal information necessary to permit account recovery will be retained. If no further action is taken by the account user after one year, the account will be permanently deleted. Accounts that have been permanently deleted cannot be recovered or restored.

New accounts

Consent must be granted within 14 days. The account will be suspended until the request is approved by the parent or guardian.

The account will be permanently deleted if parental consent is not granted after 14 days. Deleted accounts cannot be recovered or restored.

4. How can a parental consent request be submitted if the account is suspended or the 120-day consent window has lapsed?

Suspended accounts

Accounts will be suspended when parental consent is required but has not been granted. During the 120-day suspension period, the account user may still log in to the account to submit a parental consent request.

  • Existing accounts will remain suspended until parental consent is granted. After 120 days, the account deletion process will begin.
  • New accounts will be permanently deleted if parental consent is not granted after 14 days.

Accounts for which the 120-day consent window has lapsed

A new request may be submitted for existing accounts if the account deletion process has begun following the expiration of the 120-day suspension period. To recover the account, parental consent must then be granted within one year from the start of the deletion process.

To access an account after the deletion process has begun, the account user will need to log in to the Activision account through one of their linked accounts.

  1. Go to the Activision account login page.
  2. Below the “Sign In” button, select the provider of one of your linked accounts.
  3. You will be taken to the account provider’s login page. Log in to this linked account.
  4. After logging in, you will be taken back to your Activision account.
    • Please note: Two-factor authentication will be required if enabled.
5. How can a parent withdraw parental consent?

Instructions to withdraw parental consent can be reviewed through Activision’s Privacy & Data Protection portal.

  1. Select Submit a New Request.
  2. Choose your region and accept the Terms to proceed.

From there, follow the instructions for submitting a request to withdraw consent.

Please note: If parental consent is withdrawn, the account user will not be able to log in to the account or use it to play Activision games that require an Activision account. The deletion of the account and any associated personal information will begin, which includes any purchased entitlements (including, any in-game items and virtual currency, such as in-game bundles, Pro Packs, etc.), game play history and progress, etc.

6. What are the parental access and deletion rights that a parent or guardian can exercise?

A parent or guardian may submit a request to access personal information on their child’s account (Subject Access Request), or they may request to have the account deleted (Right to Erasure).

To submit either of these requests, please visit Activision’s Privacy & Data Protection portal.

  1. Select Submit a New Request
  2. Choose your region and accept the Terms to proceed.

From there, follow the instructions for submitting a request on behalf of an individual.

7. Are any safety measures applied to accounts after parental consent is obtained or Date of Birth is provided?

To safeguard our players and help ensure a fun and safe gameplay experience, features such as voice and text chat may not be available on certain accounts. Access to these features may vary depending on your age or your local laws.

Accounts that require parental consent

After parental consent is granted, voice and text chat options may be set to “Off” in games that offer these features.

Access to turn on voice and text chat will be restored once the account user no longer requires parental consent.

At that time, the account user may turn either of these features back on within the game’s settings.

Accounts that do not require parental consent

After providing Date of Birth, voice and text chat options may be set to “Off” in games that offer these features. However, the account user may turn either of these features back on within the game’s settings.
