Setting up a Second Player in Guitar Hero Live

This article will help you set up a second player in Guitar Hero Live

Question: I'm having trouble setting and syncing a second guitar controller for Player Two. What should I do?

Answer: When setting up a second guitar controller for Player Two, you must first ensure that Player One’s guitar controller is set up and synced as normal. Check out the video below if you need help with syncing a controller for Player One.

Follow these steps to set up the second guitar controller:

  1. Plug in your second wireless USB receiver.
    • On Xbox One, one of the wireless USB receivers must be plugged into the USB port on the side of the console.
  2. Press the connection button on the second wireless USB receiver.
  3. Press the guitar controller’s Power Button so the LED on the controller flashes quickly.
  4. Once the light on the guitar controller stops flashing and shows as a single, steady light, Player Two’s controller is synced.
  5. Press the guitar controller’s Power Button to open up the player sign in screen and select the user the controller should be paired to.
  6. Press the Select button to pair the guitar controller with Player Two's profile and return to the selection screen.
  7. When starting a Quickplay game, the second player can join in by pressing the Pause button on the guitar controller. The Pause button is located next to the Hero Power button.

Important Notes:

  • Two dongles and two guitar controllers are required for local multiplayer.
  • Other active USB devices may cause interference. Avoid using them when possible.
  • The GH Live campaign can only be played as a single-player experience. A multiplayer game can be played in Quickplay.
  • The second player can only be logged in as a guest. Their performance will not be saved.
