2XP in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
How the new 2XP system works in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare introduces a new system in which players receive 2XP. Now that you can earn XP Tokens through gameplay, you can choose when to activate your XP Tokens, giving you the ability to control when you collect 2XP.
1. How do I get 2XP Tokens?
You can acquire XP Tokens to receive 2XP in two ways:
- Through gameplay – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare offers several objectives and challenges that reward XP Tokens upon completion.
- Through partnerships – Buy specially-marked products from various retailers and partners and receive codes redeemable for XP Tokens.
2. How can I receive 2XP in game?
The 2XP multiplier can only be used in public Multiplayer matches. While participating in these matches, you'll earn twice the usual amount of XP for in-match accomplishments and achievements while you have an XP Token activated.
Your 2XP is awarded immediately and is reflected in the total XP you earned listed in the After Action Report.
3. How do I activate an XP Token?
You can see the total amount of XP Tokens you have and activate an XP Token from the 2XP sidebar.
- Enter a pregame lobby from the Multiplayer menu.
- Press L3 to open the 2XP sidebar.
- Highlight an available XP Token tile and press Select to activate 2XP.
Once an XP Token is activated, the time to earn 2XP in Multiplayer begins, and a countdown timer appears on the righthand side of the screen in the Multiplayer pregame lobby.
4. Can I see how long I have until my XP Token runs out?
Yes. Once an XP Token is activated, the time to earn 2XP in Multiplayer begins, and you'll see a timer counting down on the righthand side in the Multiplayer pregame lobby.
5. Why does the XP timer run when I'm not in a match?
There is a bit of a change to the system this year, as XP Tokens count down in real time whether you're in a match or not, including the pregame lobby, when you are adjusting your loadout, or even if you exit the game. Therefore, we recommend only activating XP Tokens when you're sure your game session will last as long as, or longer than the time of the XP Token activated in order to maximize your experience.
6. Is there a limit to how many XP Tokens I can activate at a time?
No. You are free to activate as many XP Tokens as you wish, but once a token is activated, it can't be deactivated. Therefore, we recommend only activating XP Tokens when you're sure your game session will last as long as or longer than the time of the XP Token activated.
7. Is there a limit to how many XP Tokens I can activate in a single day?
No. While previous Call of Duty titles limited players to one hour of 2XP received per day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has no limit to the number of 2XP minutes you can have active in a day.
8. Do the XP Tokens I earn through gameplay count against the 40-hour limit on 2XP through code redemptions?
No. While 2XP acquired through code redemptions from partnerships has a cap of 40 hours, there is no cap on the amount of 2XP you can receive from XP Tokens earned in game.
