Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Battle Pass

How the reward system works across Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Did you stop earning Battle Tokens, or you can’t buy any more? This means:

  • you've completed the Battle Pass, or
  • you have enough Battle Tokens in your Token Bank to complete the Battle Pass.

You can only earn or buy the amount of Battle Tokens needed to complete the Battle Pass each season. For example, if a Battle Pass offers 100 rewards, you can only earn or buy up to 100 Battle Tokens during that season.

See Question 8 below for more details.

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III continues the new iteration of the Battle Pass, giving players more choices and agency than ever before.

Within the multi-Sector Battle Pass map, use Battle Tokens to claim rewards in a Sector. After claiming all rewards in a Sector, adjacent Sectors unlock making more rewards available.

The base Battle Pass is free to all players and includes 20 free rewards. Upgrade your Battle Pass for 1,100 COD Points to receive access to all 100+ rewards. You can also get a head start on unlocking those rewards with BlackCell, which includes access to the seasonal Battle Pass, 20 Battle Tokens — 25 if you're on PlayStation® — and other exclusive content.

BATTLE PASS SECTORS

The Battle Pass map is made up of 20 Sectors, and each Sector contains five rewards. Claim all five rewards with Battle Tokens to unlock new Sectors.

CLAIMING REWARDS

  1. Select an unlocked Sector on the Battle Pass map to zoom in on the Sector's rewards.
  2. Highlight a reward and select Claim.
    • Note: Whether you have the base or full Battle Pass, rewards marked Free are available to all players and must be claimed with a Battle Token.
  3. You will need to claim the four base rewards before you can claim the final reward called the High-Value Target (HVT).

Players with the base Battle Pass need to claim all five rewards in a Sector to unlock new Sectors but will only receive the reward marked Free. When upgrading to the full Battle Pass, all rewards that have been claimed will be available to use.

UNLOCKING NEW SECTORS

Claim the final reward in a Sector to unlock adjacent Sectors. You can choose any path on the Battle Pass map, but you can only unlock new Sectors next to those you've already unlocked.

BATTLE TOKEN BANK

As you play the game, you will earn Battle Tokens, which are used to unlock rewards in Sectors on the Battle Pass. You may also purchase Battle Tokens.

AUTO-SPENDING BATTLE TOKENS

The Battle Pass is designed to allow you to choose which rewards you want to unlock. However, you can also set your Battle Pass to Auto. When turned on, this feature will automatically spend Battle Tokens as you earn them on rewards within Sectors in numerical order.

1. Are there different versions of the Battle Pass?

Yes, each Season includes a brand-new Battle Pass containing rewards that were not previously available.

The base Battle Pass is free to all players, offering 20 rewards.

The full Battle Pass — available for 1,100 COD Points — grants access to all 100+ rewards in the Battle Pass (not including BlackCell rewards).

The Battle Pass Bundle — available for 2,400 COD Points — includes the full Battle Pass plus 20 Battle Tokens (25 on PlayStation).

Upgrade to BlackCell to receive everything in the full Battle Pass plus COD Points, Tier Skips, and unique BlackCell rewards.

2. Do I need the Battle Pass to play Modern Warfare III?

The base Battle Pass is free to all players. However, upgrading to the full Battle Pass — either as a standalone purchase or included in BlackCell — is an optional addition to your Modern Warfare III experience. It does not offer players an advantage over other players without the full Battle Pass.

3. Can I buy individual rewards from a Battle Pass?

Aside from COD Points, rewards within the Battle Pass can only be obtained by unlocking them with Battle Tokens.

4. What is the Last Chance offer and how does it work?

At the beginning of a new season, players who didn’t purchase the previous season’s Battle Pass or BlackCell will be presented with a one-time Last Chance offer. Last Chance allows you to purchase the full Battle Pass rewards you unlocked through progression but were not included in the free Battle Pass offering.

For example, let’s say you progressed through 10 Sectors (50 Tiers) of the Battle Pass:

  • With the free Battle Pass, you were able to claim 10 rewards, one from each Sector.
  • You unlocked 40 rewards through your progression but could not claim them without the full Battle Pass.

In this scenario, the Last Chance offer would give you a one-time opportunity to purchase the 40 rewards you unlocked through progression.

The Last Chance offer only includes rewards from the previous season’s Battle Pass and does not include the current season’s Battle Pass.

5. Can I buy the Battle Pass from previous Seasons?

No. Outside of the Last Chance one-time offer, a Battle Pass for a specific Season expires when a new Season begins.

6. If I upgrade to the full Battle Pass during a Season, will I need to start at the beginning?

No. As you progress through a Season, you will always earn Battle Tokens. Upgrading to the full Battle Pass during a Season will make more rewards available, allowing you to unlock more rewards with your unspent Battle Tokens.

7. Will my Battle Pass progress and unlocked content carry over if I play on other platforms (upgrade from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S, play on a console and PC, etc.)?

Yes. Battle Pass progress and rewards you unlock are tied to your Activision account. Therefore, Battle Pass progress and rewards will be available on all platforms as long as you play on the same linked Activision account where you originally earned the progress and rewards.

Please note: COD Points you earn through the Battle Pass can only be spent on the platform you are playing on when you unlock the COD Points.

8. Do Battle Tokens carry over from Season to Season?

At the end of each Modern Warfare III Season, any unspent Battle Tokens you have earned or purchased will be automatically spent on remaining Battle Pass rewards along a pre-set path to complete the Battle Pass. When the next Season begins, you will be presented with an overview of the rewards that were unlocked.

Please note: Battle Tokens (Tier Skips) you got from the Vault Edition or through a promotion that are not automatically spent to complete the Battle Pass will carry over into the next season.

For example, a typical Battle Pass includes 100 rewards. Let’s say:

  • You earned 85 Battle Tokens through gameplay during a season.
  • You spent all 85 Battle Tokens to claim rewards in the same season.
  • You also received 20 Battle Tokens (Tier Skips) from the Vault Edition.

At the end of the season:

  • 15 of your Battle Tokens (Tier Skips) from the Vault Edition will be automatically spent to complete the Battle Pass.
  • The remaining 5 Battle Tokens (Tier Skips) will carry over into the next season.

9. If I purchase the full Battle Pass, will I be able to upgrade to BlackCell later in the Season?

Yes. In addition to the exclusive rewards you can unlock with BlackCell, you will instantly receive the 1,100 COD Points you spent on your original Battle Pass purchase from that Season when you upgrade.

10. New Sectors were added to the Battle Pass during the season. How do I claim the rewards?

When new Sectors are added during a season, they do not unlock with Battle Tokens. Instead, each reward in the Sector is unlocked by completing a specific challenge. For example, a reward may require getting 15 Headshots with Assault Rifles.

Highlight each reward in these Sectors to see the challenge requirements to unlock the reward.
