Below you will find information about the various accessibility benefits and features available in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

1. What Subtitle options are available?

Cinematic speech and in-game dialogue can both be presented through subtitles, which are Disabled by default. You can choose to Enable subtitles and adjust their appearance to make the text larger or add backings. Tooltips are shown when hovering over specific elements for a short delay and are Enabled by default. Open the Settings menu and select the Interface tab.

  • Subtitles - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Subtitle Size - Options: Regular or Large
  • Subtitle Backing Opacity - Options: Adjust the opacity of the subtitles' backing on a scale of 0 - 100
  • Mouse Tooltips - Options: Hidden or Shown

2. Can I change the actions for the controller buttons?

Yes. Open the Settings menu and select the Controller tab. Under Button Layout, you can pick from several controller button layout options:

  • Default
  • Tactical
  • Lefty
  • Charlie
  • Bumper Jumper
  • Bumper Jumper Tactical
  • One-Hand Gunslinger
  • Stick and Move
  • Brawler
  • Bumper Ping
  • Tactical Ping

You can also choose to flip the left and right bumpers (LB/RB) with the left and right trigger buttons (LT/RT). Under the Advanced subsection in the Controller tab of the Settings menu, the Stick Layout can be customized using several options to adjust the functionality of the controller sticks:

3. Can I turn off the controller vibration?

Yes. Open the Settings menu and select the Controller tab. Controller Vibration is set to Enabled by default. You can choose to turn controller vibration functionality off by selecting Disabled.

4. What other controller options are available?

Additional settings to customize player controls and input are available in the Settings menu under the Controller tab:

  • Invert Vertical Look - Options: Disabled, Airplanes Only, or Enabled
  • Horizontal Stick Sensitivity - Options: Choose desired horizontal sensitivity on a scale of .25 (low sensitivity) to 14 (highly sensitive)

  • Aim Response Curve Type - Options: Standard, Linear, or Dynamic
  • Controller Vibration - Options: Enabled or Disabled

  • Target Aim Assist - Options: Enabled or Disabled

5. What options are there to choose between toggle and hold functionality?

6. What options are available for players who have a color vision deficiency?

The game aims to pair important color cues with accompanying differences in silhouette and audio to accommodate players with color vision deficiencies. Additionally, the game offers color correction options for further enhancements. Open the Settings menu and select the Graphics tab. From here, you can choose from several color blindness options:

  • Colorblind Type - Options: Disabled, Protanopia, Deuteranopia, or Tritanopia
  • You Color - Options: Choose the color for this group of icons that fits better for you from 15 available colors
  • Ally Color - Options: Choose the color for this group of icons that fits better for you from 15 available colors
  • Enemy Color - Options: Choose the color for this group of icons that fits better for you from 15 available colors
  • Party Color - Options: Choose the color for this group of icons that fits better for you from 15 available colors

7. Can I adjust the brightness?

Yes. Open the Settings menu and select the Graphics tab. Under Display, you can adjust the brightness of the display on a sliding scale.

8. Can I adjust the in-game HUD (Heads Up Display)?

Yes. Open the Settings menu and select the Interface tab. Within these settings, you can adjust the visibility of various elements of the HUD (Heads Up Display):

  • Crosshairs - Options: Shown or Hidden
  • Hit Markers Visuals - Options: Shown or Hidden
  • Damage-Based Hit Markers - Options: Shown or Hidden
  • Ally Health Bars - Options: Shown or Hidden
  • Enemy Health Bars - Options: Shown or Hidden
  • Player Names - Options: Icon Only, Abbreviated, or Full Name
  • Horizontal Compass - Options: Shown or Hidden
  • Floating Damage Numbers - Options: Enabled or Disabled

PC players can also adjust the HUD Bounds as needed.

9. Can I use a combination of controller and Keyboard & Mouse? What advanced accessibility options are available?

The player must determine which peripheral will be used for gameplay between a gamepad (controller) or a Keyboard & Mouse before entering matchmaking. However, you can still use both peripherals to navigate the menus and text chat at any time. For example, a player may be using a gamepad, but can quickly send a message to their team from the text chat using a keyboard. Additionally, players using a gamepad that also have a keyboard plugged in may still make use of non-gameplay keyboard shortcuts at any time, including opening the social menu, opening the settings menu, muting the game, muting voice chat, toggling Push to Talk, and more.

10. Are there options to filter the content in the game?

Yes. Open the Settings menu and select the Account & Network tab. Under Content Filters you can choose to enable several content filters:

  • Profanity Filter - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Graphic Content - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Real Names - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Friend Request Notifications - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Party Invite Notifications - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Matchmaking Delay - Options: Disabled, 3 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, or Random
  • Codename - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Codename Other Players - Options: Enabled or Disabled

Additionally, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War team continuously works to remove offensive usernames and provide in-game resources for our players to report content they feel may be offensive.

11. Can I adjust the motion blur?

Yes. Open the Options menu and select the Graphics tab. Under Post Processing Effects, you can enable or disable motion blur:

  • Motion Blur - Options: Disabled, Self Only, or Enabled

PC players can also adjust the motion blur quality under the Post Processing Effects subcategory with the following setting:

  • Motion Blur Quality - Options: Low, Medium, or High

12. What audio options are available?

Open the Settings menu and select the Audio tab. From there you can customize various elements of your sound and audio volumes:

Volumes:

  • Mute Sound - Options: Muted or Not Muted
  • Master Volume - Options: Customize this volume on a sliding scale of 0.00 - 100.00
  • Music Volume - Options: Customize this volume on a sliding scale of 0.00 - 100.00
  • Sound Effects Volume - Options: Customize this volume on a sliding scale of 0.00 - 100.00

Open the Settings menu and select Audio. From there you can customize various elements of your Voice Chat options:

  • Voice Chat - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Voice & Text Chat Channel - Options: Game Chat or Party Chat
  • Voice Chat Volume - Options: Customize this volume on a sliding scale of 0.00 - 4.00
  • Open Microphone Sensitivity - Options: Customize the microphone sensitivity on a sliding scale of 0 - 100
  • Microphone Volume - Options: Customize this volume on a sliding scale of 0.00 - 4.00

For Keyboard & Mouse input, we also provide the following options to customize under the Audio tab:

  • Microphone Activation Mode - Options: Push to Talk or Open Mic
  • Push to Talk (Voice Chat) - Options: Customize the button this action is tied to

When playing on PC, the following additional settings can be customized:

  • Attenuation - Options: Enabling attenuation lowers the game's volume whenever anyone (including yourself) speaks in your voice chat channel. This setting can be Enabled or Disabled
  • Attenuation Scale - Options: Customize attenuation percentage on a scale from 10% - 90%

14. What options are available for using a mouse input?

When using Keyboard & Mouse input, open the Settings menu and select the Keyboard & Mouse tab. Under the Mouse sub-category you can customize various options for a mouse input:

  • Mouse Sensitivity - Options: Customize the overall mouse sensitivity on a scale from 0.01 - 100.00
  • ADS Sensitivity Multiplier Low Zoom - Customize the sensitivity on a scale of 0.10 to 4.00 while Aiming Down Sights (ADS) with a magnification of 3x or lower
  • ADS Sensitivity Multiplier High Zoom  - Customize the sensitivity on a scale of 0.10 to 4.00 while Aiming Down Sights (ADS) with a magnification 4x or higher
  • Vehicle Mouse Sensitivity Multiplier - Options: Customize the mouse sensitivity while driving vehicles on a scale from 0.01 - 4.00
  • ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing - Options: Instant, Gradual, or After Zoom
  • Vertical Sensitivity Multiplier - Options: Customize the mouse sensitivity for the vertical axis on a scale from 0.01 - 4.00
  • ADS Mouse Sensitivity Mode - Options: Relative or Legacy
  • Mouse Acceleration - Options: Customize the aim speed when making quick mouse movements on a sliding scale from 0 -100.
  • Mouse Filtering - Options: Customize how much the mouse input of the previous frames is taken into consideration on the current frame on a scale from 0 - 10.
  • Mouse Smoothing - Options: Enabled or Disabled

In the Keyboard & Mouse tab, under the Gameplay sub-category, the following setting can also be adjusted for mouse input:

  • Mouse Wheel Input Delay - Options: Customize the minimum time in milliseconds before another signal is sent when using the mouse wheel on a scale from 0 - 500 milliseconds

Adjusting Mouse Wheel Input Delay setting to a low value will make it easier to trigger an action twice in quick succession if it is bound to the mouse wheel. This can also make it more likely to accidentally trigger the action more times than intended.

15. What graphics and display options can I customize?

Open the Settings menu and select the Graphics tab to customize the graphics and display settings for the game:

  • Field of View - Options: Customize the height and width of the in-game view on a scale from 60 - 120
  • ADS Field of View - Options: Independent or Affected
  • Brightness - Options: Customize the brightness on a scale from 0 - 100

When playing on console, the following settings can be customized:

  • Raytracing - Options: Enabled or Disabled
  • Splitscreen Orientation - Options: Horizontal or Vertical

When playing on PC, the following settings can be customized:

Display:

  • Framerate Limit - Options: Unlimited or Custom

Details & Textures:

Yes. The game supports fully remappable key bindings for Keyboard & Mouse input, allowing players to customize which actions are tied to which buttons. To customize the keybinds and achieve your desired setup, open the Settings menu and select Keyboard & Mouse. Visit each of the subcategories, Aim, Gameplay, and Keybinds to customize each aspect of your interaction experience.
