Details about accessibility features available in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2

Below you will find information about the various accessibility benefits and features available in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2.

If you experience any issues, have any concerns, or run into any barriers preventing you from playing and enjoying the game, we want to hear from you. Please reach out to us and be sure to include as much detail as possible.

1. What audio options are available?

Open the Options menu and select Sound Options. From there, you can adjust the playlist, tune the music and sound levels, and change voice options.

  • Skip Track - Select to skip the song currently playing.
  • Playlist - Selecting Playlist opens a list of songs available in the game. Here, you can uncheck songs you want to skip.
  • Music Level - Use the slider to adjust the volume of the in-game music.
  • Sound Level - Use the slider to adjust the volume of the game's Sound Effects.
  • Bail Music Effect - Check or uncheck this option to choose whether or not the music effect plays when you bail.
  • Special Music Effect- Check or uncheck this option to choose whether or not the Special Music Effect plays.
  • Subtitles - Check or uncheck the Subtitles box to set your Subtitles preference.
  • Skater Voice- Check or uncheck the Skater Voice box to choose whether or not you want to hear your skater speak.
  • Always Use English Voices - Check this box if you want to set all in-game voices to English. This option does not apply to the vocals in songs.

2. Can I turn off the controller vibration?

Yes. Open the Options menu and select Gameplay Options. From there, you can check or uncheck the Controller Vibration box.

3. Can I change the actions of the controller buttons?

Yes. You can adjust the following:

  • Remap inputs for grabs, flips, lips, and specials: In game, open the Pause menu, select Skater, and then Tricks. From there you can change the directional input for grabs, flips, and lips and the directional and face inputs for special tricks.
  • Wallplant: Open the Options menu and select Gameplay Options. From there you can toggle Wallplant controls between two control options.
  • 180 Spin Tap: Open the Options menu and select Gameplay Options. From there, you can enable tapping the left and right bumper simultaneously in vert air to rotate the player 180 degrees.

 

PC only

If you play on PC, you can choose between four preset control options:

  • Modern
  • Modern Flipped
  • Classic
  • Classic Alternate

You also have the option to customize your control setup and choose the input for the following controls:

  • Forward
  • Stop
  • Turn Left
  • Turn Right
  • Jump/Ollie
  • Grab
  • Grind
  • Flip
  • Switch Position/Revert
  • Nollie
  • Social Menu
  • Fast Spin Left
  • Fast Spin Right
  • Skip Track

4. Can I adjust the camera?

Yes. Open the Options menu and select Gameplay Options. From there, you can separately configure the horizontal and vertical camera movements by checking or unchecking Invert X or Invert Y.

You can also change your camera by highlighting View and adjusting the slider to NearLow, or Far.

In Create-a-Park, open the Options menu to adjust the following Camera settings:

Orbit Camera and Free Camera can be set to Normal, All Inverted, or Pitch Inverted.

The speed at which the Camera moves can be adjusted under Camera Speed to Slow, Normal, or Fast.

5. Can I adjust the in-game displays?

Yes. Open the Options menu and select Gameplay Options. Under HUD Visibility, you can enable or disable several graphics and notifications that display in the game:

  • Score/Special Meter
  • Trick String
  • Balance Meters
  • Landing Indicator
  • Stance Indicator
  • Song Notification
  • Player Scores
  • Player Gamertags

6. Can I adjust the brightness?

Yes. After launching the game for the first time, you'll be presented with a two-step calibration to set the brightness and darkness. If you want to revisit these settings, open the Options menu and select Display Options, then select LDR Calibration. From there, use the slider to adjust the Black Point settings (step 1) and the White Point settings (step 2).

7. Can I play the game with moves from previous Tony Hawk games?

Yes. The game's Moveset is set to Default the first time you launch the game. You can change your Moveset by opening the Options menu and selecting Game Mods. From there, you can adjust the Legacy slider to either Classic THPS1 or Classic THPS2.

8. Are there options to change the difficulty in the game?

Yes. In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, you have the option to use Assists when playing the game.

You can access Assists by opening the Options menu and selecting Game Mods.

The following Assists are available.

  • Perfect Rail Balance - You will always have perfect balance when grinding or sliding on a rail.
  • Perfect Manual Balance - You will always have perfect balance when performing a Manual.
  • Perfect Lip Balance - You will always have perfect balance when performing Lip tricks.
  • Always Special - When active, you will always perform your skater's Special trick.
  • No Bails - You will never fall.

Please note: Some Assists are disabled in certain game modes and may prevent you from recording your score to leaderboards when active.

9. What adjustments can I make in Create-a-Park?

Camera

Open the Options menu to adjust the following Camera settings:

  • Orbit Camera and Free Camera can be set to Normal, All Inverted, or Pitch Inverted.
  • The speed in which the Camera moves can be adjusted under Camera Speed to Slow, Normal, or Fast.

 

Park piece controls

While in Create-a-Park, you can adjust whether or not pieces are snapped together automatically. Open the Options menu and use the Toggle Snapping (Piece & Rotation) checkbox  to turn snapping on or off.

 

Hints

In the Create-a-Park Options menu, you can adjust whether or not hints are displayed in the bottom left of the screen with the Display Hints checkbox.

10. Is there a Tutorial available?

Yes, the game offers an optional Tutorial the first time you launch the game. You can also access the Tutorial at any time through the Extras menu.

The Tutorial offers lessons on the following topics:

  • Movement
  • Ollie
  • Flip Tricks
  • Pools
  • Catching Air On Vert
  • Grab Tricks
  • Grind Tricks
  • Manuals
  • Lip Tricks
  • Wallride
  • Reverts
  • Gaps

Create-a-Park also offers tutorials when the following circumstances are met for the first time:

  • Welcome tutorial - upon entering the Create-a-Park Editor
  • Hovering tutorial - upon hovering over a piece in the Create-a-Park Editor
  • Player start tutorial - upon hovering over the player start in the Create-a-Park editor
  • Smart piece tutorial - when switching to place a smart piece in the Create-a-Park Editor
