Call of Duty Strengthening Account Security

#TeamRICOCHET is resetting login passwords to help strengthen Activision account security

What is happening?

To strengthen the security of Activision accounts, #TeamRICOCHET has launched a password reset initiative. Some players will be sent an email to the address associated with their account instructing them to change their password as part of this security measure.

Players who are part of this initiative and logged in to Call of Duty will not be disconnected. However, an updated password will be required for these players who wish to make any changes to their account details through activision.com and callofduty.com, such as updating personal information and managing linked accounts.

Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile players may be required to update their Activision password the next time they log in.

In 2023, TeamRICOCHET identified over 110,000 accounts on the dark web parsed from reused email and password combinations. These accounts were returned to their rightful owners with a password reset wave specific to those players. Today, the scope of password resets has expanded to further protect our community.

Is there anything else I can do to safeguard my account?

We highly recommend players choose a unique password for their Activision account. Reusing passwords shared with other accounts or websites can put accounts at risk.

We also recommend players check all accounts linked to their Activision account and immediately unlink any accounts that are unfamiliar.

Using two-factor authentication (2FA) is another way our community can better secure their accounts. Learn more about setting up two-factor authentication.

Players who did not receive an email as part of this initiative but wish to update their password can do so in the BASIC INFO section of their account profile.
