Crossplay continues with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, allowing players on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC to play together.
Along with this unified experience, crossplay enables cross-progression, which means your progression in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will carry over across all platforms linked to the same Activision account, regardless of console generation.
Not only that, any player progression and Battle Pass progression you make while playing Warzone will also carry over to both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Player Progression
Beginning with Season 1, player levels will be reset to 1 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. From there, player progression will be shared between Warzone, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. That means when you play and level up in Warzone, your rank and player progression will be reflected across all three games.
While playing and leveling up in Warzone, you'll unlock content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for use in those games specifically or in Warzone. Playing and leveling up in either Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War unlocks content for use in the game in which it was unlocked and in Warzone. Content cannot be shared between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Prestige and Seasonal Prestige
An all-new Prestige system comes to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, adding new advancements to the Prestige progression system from previous Black Ops games.
At launch, you’ll begin progressing through the initial 55 Military Ranks to permanently unlock new Create-a-Class content. From there until the beginning of Season 1, you’ll have the opportunity to reach up to three Prestiges, including a Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50.
- Prestige 1 at Season Level 1
- Prestige 2 and Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50
- Prestige 3 at Season Level 100
When Season 1 begins, your level will reset and your progress will resume from the highest Prestige you achieved in the previous Season. Each Season will offer four additional Prestiges to achieve across the first 200 levels, plus a new Weapon Blueprint to earn at Level 50.
- New Prestige and Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50
- New Prestige at Season Level 100
- New Prestige at Season Level 150
- New Prestige at Season Level 200
This new system allows you to earn up to three Prestiges before Season 1 begins, and then up to four Prestiges each Season. You’ll always earn progress toward the Prestige that comes after your current one, and you’ll be able to catch up to the latest available Prestige if you didn’t reach it during the previous Season.
Prestige Master
Reach Level 200 in any Season to earn the title of Prestige Master for that Season, allowing you to personalize your Prestige Icon with Legacy Prestige Icons from previous Call of Duty games.
After reaching Prestige Master in a Season, you can continue to level up all the way to Level 1000, earning new rewards after every 50 levels.
Season Challenges
Also beginning in Season One, new Season Challenges will provide even more ways to earn rewards throughout each Season. These challenges will offer two collections of 20 Calling Cards per Season in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (20 for Multiplayer and 20 for Zombies), with new Challenges ungated in both collections at every 10 levels up to Level 200.
Once a Season Challenge is ungated, progress and complete the challenge to earn its related Calling Card. After all Calling Cards in a collection are earned, you’ll receive an animated Season Master Calling Card as a reward.
Weapon Progression
Weapon and loadout items used within Warzone will be tied to the games where the base weapons and loadout items are used. For example, weapons and loadout items from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War share progression when used in Warzone. However, weapon and loadout item progression is not shared between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Non-shared weapon and loadout item progression includes equivalent versions within Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. For example, both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War have their own separate version of the AK-47. Each version will have its own progression, attachment progression, and camo challenges.
Battle Pass Progression
Similar to player progression, Battle Pass progression will carry across all three games. However, the content unlocked with the Battle Pass will only be available to use in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. Battle Pass will not include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare content.
Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the quickest way to earn Battle Pass tiers, as the game will have double Battle Pass XP events while playing.
Operator Progression
Operator progression will align with the title in which they appear as well as Warzone. That means Operators from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War can only be used and progressed within their individual games or in Warzone. (Frank Woods will remain playable in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for players who pre-ordered a digital edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.)
In-Game Stores
Each game will feature its own in-game store. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War stores will contain content specific to their games that can also be used in Warzone. Content specific to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War cannot be shared with one another.
Please note: The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War store will include a small amount of content that can only be used in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and not in Warzone.
