This page contains a running list of issues that have been identified or reported in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and are either under investigation or scheduled to be fixed. Be sure to check back often as we'll continually update this page.

 

Known Issues

Issue Description

I'm experiencing performance issues after the latest update.

- All platforms

Some players may experience occasional performance issues mainly tied to framerate since our latest update.

We’ve already submitted a fix that will be deployed as soon as possible.

The game is crashing to a black screen.

- Xbox Series X|S

We're working to resolve an issue causing some Xbox Series X|S players to crash to a black screen when launching the game.

In the meantime, be sure you're launching the Xbox Series X|S version of the game:

1. Open your game collection.

2. Use the filter to select Optimized for Xbox Series X|S.

The optimized version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will also have an X|S logo on the game tile.

Also, make sure your Xbox Series X|S is running the latest software. Follow the steps below to check for updates.

1. Select the Home button in the center of your controller.

2. Select Profile & system Settings > System > Updates.

3. Select Console update available if an update is listed.

I'm getting a "Lost connection to host" message in Zombies.

- All platforms

We're investigating reports that some players are seeing a "Lost connection to host" message when loading into a Zombies match.

My game is crashing.

- PC

We're investigating reports of crashing or freezing on PC, leading to error codes including 3107840166, 887A0005, or 2909663725.

Be sure your PC Drivers are up to date and shut down any background applications when playing.

To help us out with our investigation, let us know about any crashes you experience.

My graphics seem to corrupt while playing.

- PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

We're working to improve stability issues related to ray tracing, and we have fixes coming in the next game update. In the meantime, if you're playing on a console that supports ray tracing, try disabling ray tracing through the game's Graphics settings menu.

I'm having trouble hearing other players over Voice Chat.

- All platforms

We're investigating reports that some players are unable to hear other party members on different platforms during crossplay.

My PS5 is launching the PS4 version of the game.

- PlayStation 5

We released an update to resolve an issue with game versions launching. Follow these steps if your PlayStation 5 is launching the PlayStation 4 version of the game:

1. Go to your Game Library.

2. Highlight Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and press X.

3. Select the […] button to view options.

4. Select the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

My Xbox Series X|S is launching the Xbox One version of the game.

- Xbox Series X|S

We released an update to resolve an issue with game versions launching. Follow these steps if your Xbox Series X|S is launching the Xbox One version of the game:

1. Open your game collection.

2. Use the filter to select Optimized for Xbox Series X|S.

The optimized version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will also have an X|S logo on the game tile.

I’m losing progress on my weapons and challenges.

- All platforms

We’re working to fix an issue where some players are seeing lost progress toward weapons and challenges when resuming from a suspended state. This is a visual error; your progress is not lost.

Workaround: Until this issue is resolved, try rebooting the game to see your progress displayed correctly.

Splitscreen performance

We've released several enhancements to improve splitscreen performance.

 

Charged for Battle Pass with Ultimate Edition

We resolved an issue where some players with the Ultimate Edition purchased the Season One Battle Pass included in the edition rather than redeeming it. If this happened to you, your COD Points were restored and you kept all Battle Pass items and progression.

 

Season Level rank

We resolved a visual issue related to how the Season Level displays in the After Action Report after prestiging.

 

Blackout Trial has ended

We fixed an issue preventing some players from playing after receiving a "Blackout Trial has ended" error message

 

Diamond Camo not unlocking/tracking

Diamond Camo progress should now be unlocked for all players who've earned it on their weapons.

 

Game Crashes in 4K

We resolved an issue where some players were experiencing game crashes when running the game in 4K.

 

Unable to see XP Tokens

We fixed an issue where some players who redeemed codes for 2XP Tokens were not seeing them available to use in game.

 

Negative XP

We resolved an issue causing some players' COD Points balances to appear as a negative number.

 

Controller disconnects on PlayStation 4

The PlayStation 4 System Software Update 8.01 included a fix to resolve controller disconnects.

 

Frame drops and lighting issues in Zombies

The November 20th update included stability updates to address frame drops and lighting issues.

 

Crashes in Onslaught

The November 20th update included a fix to resolve crashes while playing Onslaught on the Arabic or Russian versions of the game.
