Using Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to Access Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

Troubleshooting tips for logging in to Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile with 2FA

Players are required to enter a two-factor authentication (2FA) code from a supported Authenticator app each time they log in to Call of Duty®: Warzone™ Mobile with an Activision account. Backup codes will not work when logging in to the game.

Please refer to the following tips if you’re having issues with 2FA when logging in to Warzone™ Mobile.

Please also refer to Using Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) with an Activision Account for more information.

1. I don’t have access to the Authenticator app, but I have backup codes. How can I get into the game?

Follow these steps to access your Activision account with a backup code and then reset 2FA on the account.

  1. Download and install a supported authenticator app* on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Go to the Activision account login page.
  3. SIGN IN to your account with your email address and password.
  4. Select Need Help? on the page that says ENTER TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION CODE.
  5. Enter a backup code and select Continue.
  6. After successfully logging in, go to your account profile and select the PRIVACY & SECURITY tab.
  7. Select DISABLE TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION in the TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION section.
  8. Select ENABLE TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.
  9. Check your inbox for an email with a code. Enter the code to confirm you’re the owner of the account.
    • Please note: You will only need to confirm you own an account once per login session. If you’ve already confirmed to make other changes to your account, you will not need to confirm again.
  10. Open the authenticator app to add your Activision account.
    • Authy: Select Add Account and Scan QR Code
    • Duo Mobile: Select Use a QR code
    • Google Authenticator: Tap the plus (+) sign and select Scan a QR code
    • Microsoft Authenticator: Tap the plus (+) sign to add account and select Other for type of account
  11. Tap ADD ACCOUNT in the authenticator app.
  12. Enter your Activision account password, then enter the 6-digit authentication code from the authenticator app (listed under Activision).
  13. Select Activate to complete the setup.

Now that you have 2FA reset on your account, you can use a 2FA code from your Authenticator app to access Warzone Mobile.

After setting up 2FA, you will also be given ten backup codes to use if you can't access your authenticator app.

Be sure to keep your backup codes somewhere safe but accessible. Since the backup codes are mainly used when you cannot access your authenticator app, we recommend keeping your backup codes somewhere other than on the device with the app.

IMPORTANT! Do not use backup codes as the primary way to log in to your account. Only use a backup code when you cannot access your authenticator app (e.g., lost, broken, or new device). If you get a new device, be sure to disable and then reenable 2FA on your Activision account using a supported authenticator app* on your new device.

* Authy, Duo Mobile, Google Authenticator, or Microsoft Authenticator

2. Where can I find my backup codes to log in to my Activision account?

Check your inbox for the 2FA backup codes you received when enabling 2FA. The email subject is Two-Factor Authentication Enabled.

If you requested to have Activision Support resend your backup codes, the email subject is Backup Codes Resend Request.

3. What do I do if I don’t have access to the Authenticator app and I don’t have any backup codes?

If you lost access to the Authenticator app you used to enable 2FA on your Activision account and you don’t have any backup codes – whether you’ve used them all or can’t find them – please reach out to us for help.

4. I entered a 2FA code in Warzone Mobile, but it’s stuck in a loading state.

Players can only have one crossplay-enabled Call of Duty game open at a time. Please make sure one of the following games is not open on your console or PC before launching Warzone Mobile:

  • Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III / Call of Duty®: Warzone™
  • Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II
  • Call of Duty®: Vanguard
  • Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War
  • Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare®
